Kayak Build on Hold

Have to hold off on the kayak build as the garage space is taken up by the F32AX Strong-back. Once floats are out of the garage and the tent is up for the main hull build I should be able to get back to setting up the strong-back for the kayaks. Form frames are ready so half of the prep work is complete.

Jan 15th 2008 - Deciding the Kayak Design

After much deliberation on which design/model to choose I settled on the Cape Ann Double by One Ocean Kayaks. The design appealed to me and the site has a lot of resources to refer to. Vaclav was also very prompt in replying to my questions which gave me a high comfort level.

I'll be building 2 tandem kayaks. Cape Ann Double being the first and the second would probably be the Night Heron Double by Guillemot-Kayaks. The Night Heron is another fine design. Beautiful lines.

Though I haven't decided on the inlays and the patterns I want to keep it simple for the 1st build and not overly complicate the process. The second one will definitely have finer detailing and inlays.

So, the plans will be ordered for the Cap Ann Double tomorrow. Too much deliberation is not a good thing. ;)
